Head & Neck Procedures in New York
Dr. Kressel offers a variety of head and neck procedures based on your needs and desires. Head and neck procedures include facelift, neck lift, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), ear surgery (otoplasty) and earlobe repair.
If you have deep creases under your eyes or in nasolabial folds, a sagging midface, jowls or loose skin and fat deposits under your chin and jaw, a facelift procedure might be your solution. Facelift is not a one-size-fits-all solution and is not right for everyone. A limited-incision facelift may be a better solution for you. Dr. Kressel can explain each option’s pros and cons.
Age, weight loss and damage from the elements often conspire to give us excessive amounts of loose, sagging skin and fat in the neck area below the face. A neck lift smooths and tightens the skin on your neck, making you look younger and more vibrant in the process.
Blepharoplasty is the procedure that corrects sagging or drooping eyelids. Eyelids that sag or droop can affect peripheral vision, making daily activities such as driving more difficult. Eyelid surgery may become necessary when aging, sun damage, smoking and obesity cause the muscles and tissue that support the eyelids to weaken. It removes excess fat and skin and greatly improves peripheral vision. Some people choose blepharoplasty for strictly cosmetic reasons. Patients choose this procedure for their upper or lower eyelids, or both. The procedure can take from 45 minutes to two hours, depending on whether the one or both eyelids are done.
Ear Surgery & Earlobe Repair
Ear surgery (otoplasty) is a cosmetic procedure to improve the appearance of the ears. Ear surgery does not affect hearing and provides significant psychological benefits to anyone who has been teased about ear size and/or shape, has had a serious ear injury or simply wants to improve their appearance. Ear surgery is most often performed to set unusually protruding ears closer to the head (ear pinning) or to reduce the size of abnormally large ears. Ear surgery may also be helpful in repairing abnormal constructions (lop ear), “cauliflower ear” (which results from repeated trauma to the ears), earlobes with large creases and wrinkles, and abnormally small ears (microtia). We also perform earlobe repair. Earlobes can be torn, for example, when earrings get caught in clothing or other items. Torn earlobes can be safely corrected using surgical earlobe repair techniques in the office under local anesthesia. The earring hole is either completely torn or elongated to the point that an earring will not stay in place. We will discuss the most appropriate earlobe repair technique with you based on the location of your injury. Once your earlobe is fully healed, it can be re-pierced so you can wear earrings again.
