Neck Lift in New York City
A neck lift is a surgical procedure that smooths and tightens neck skin, which can sag from aging or weight loss. There are usually two surgical components to a neck lift: cervicoplasty, which removes excess skin, and platysmaplasty, which removes or tightens muscles. A neck lift can be performed alone or as part of a facelift procedure.
A neck lift is actually a set of procedures to enhance the appearance of your neck. These procedures may include removing excess skin, altering neck muscles, liposuction fat removal, Botox injections or Kybella injections to remove excess fat from under the chin. You must be in good health to have a neck lift. Some of the most common concerns that are addressed with a neck lift include “turkey wattle” neck, excess fat and excess skin.
Your surgeon may recommend surgery, which involves gaining access to a neck muscle called the latysma. You may even need to have some muscle tissue removed. Your surgeon may use an endoscope to complete your surgery. In addition, Botox injections can relax the platysma. Botox injections can be performed in 15 minutes on an outpatient basis.
During liposuction, your surgeon will remove excess fat below your chin. If you are undergoing other procedures, your cosmetic surgeon may begin with liposuction. You and your surgeon can determine this during your consultation. If this is the only procedure you’re having, plan on about an hour for the surgery.
